Program Manager

Full time/Permanent, Victoria or Vancouver, BC

 

Ocean Diagnostics Inc. is a dynamic and innovative environmental impact company committed to helping academia, government, industry, foundations, environmental firms, and communities understand and address the issues of plastic pollution and biodiversity loss. By pushing the boundaries of technology for environmental research, we strive to create groundbreaking solutions that make a meaningful impact. Ocean Diagnostics is seeking a dedicated Program Manager to lead a Canada wide multi-year microplastics monitoring program. This role involves the establishment of partnerships with government bodies, academic institutions, and NGOs in designated regions.

The Program Manager will be responsible for deployment of Ocean Diagnostics cutting-edge technology and field collection protocols, transfer of samples for analysis at Ocean Diagnostic’s Centre of Excellence Microplastics Laboratory in Vancouver, data analysis and communication of results to programs stakeholders.


This is a full-time position located in Vancouver or Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Responsibilities: 
  • Managing of field program plans and logistics, scope, objectives, schedules, budget, and deliverables.
  • Coordination of collection and transport of samples to Ocean Diagnostics Centre of Excellence Microplastics Laboratory in Vancouver for analysis.
  • Actively evaluate field collection procedures and laboratory results to ensure data quality objectives of the program are met.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing program reports, statistical data analysis to evaluate temporal and spatial trends, and communication of complex technical information to programs stakeholders.
Qualifications: 
  • Current resident and eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Five years or more experience of managing complex environmental projects involving multiple sites and partners.
  • A postgraduate degree in an environmental sciences discipline (MSc) with a focus on water or related area. Microplastics background preferred.
  • Skilled in environmental data analysis, water pollution statistical analysis to assess spatial and temporal trends.
  • Practical knowledge of sampling, analysis and monitoring of water quality parameters and contaminants.
  • Familiarity with near shore sampling, including deployment of field equipment, sensors, and devices for water quality monitoring.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to analyze and convey technical information pertaining to water quality and environmental protection.
  • Ability to designate projects tasks and ensure programs goals and objectives are meet on schedule and budget.
  • Ability to identify potential problems related to all aspects of the program and propose solutions.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary: $75,000 - $85,000
